Avery Sunshine

Avery Sunshine is an enigmatic singer, composer and performer. Avery Sunshine combines soul gospel with R&B to create a unique mix. She has performed on Broadway in the Democratic National Convention and in the European clubs and festivals. Sunshine has been born Denise White. While she's based in Atlanta however, her ancestors are from Chester Pennsylvania. There she started to grow as a musician by playing and singing in church. In Atlanta she was a student at Spellman College where her musical instruction began with the local R&B Scene. In 2007 Grammy as well as Tony Awards-winning singer Jennifer Holliday sought her out to serve as the director of choral for the stage production of Dreamgirls in the National Black Arts Festival in Atlanta. Sunshine was the subject of national media attention during four daily performances at the 2008 Democratic National Convention and was subsequently invited to sing at President Barack Obama's inauguration in 2009.
