Heidi Klum was conceived in Bergisch Gladbach in Germany in June of 1973. Erna Klum was her mother. Gunther Klim, her father was the executive of a cosmetics firm. Heidi's dad used to be a producer for 4711, a company that made perfume. Her home was in her home town in Bergisch Gladbach a city of approximately 100,000 inhabitants just 6 miles from Cologne. German-American ex fashion model and now television host, businesswoman and fashion designer. Her friend (Karin) advised the young student of 18 to participate in a German television show called Model 92. The German women's publication Petra sponsored the show which was part of Thomas Gottschalk's late-night talk show. Klum battled 25,000 competitors in Germany, Europe and beyond until she reached the top three. In April 1992 Klum won the $300,000.00 the top prize for modeling.
